Employee Benefits & Salary Placement Information

We offer a competitive employee benefits package for eligible employees. 

Insurance & Leave Benefits

General Leave:

  • 10 days per year
  • 52-week Employees - 12 days per year

Yuma Elementary advances five days of general leave upon hire, prorated depending on the date of employment. The remaining five (5) days accrue throughout the year.

Insurance Benefits

Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance:

The district pays $8,441.16 per year for an eligible employee’s health insurance premium, which includes a $20,000 life insurance policy. Employees can enroll spouses and dependents in the same plan at a pre-taxed cost through payroll deduction.

Arizona State Retirement:

The district matches the mandatory employee contribution for retirement and long-term disability.

Social Security/Medicare:

Employee and district pays 6.2% for social security and 1.45% for Medicare.

Voluntary Benefits

Flex Benefit Program

The Flex Plan is designed to allow you to set aside pre-taxed dollars through payroll deduction for the payment of specific medical expenses, medications not covered entirely by the health insurance, and/or childcare expenses for you and your family.

Symetra Life Insurance

You may elect to purchase additional term life insurance through payroll deduction for yourself, spouse, and/or dependents. Rates are set according to the value of the policy, your annual salary, and age.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The district will pay for up to six free counseling sessions for all employees and their dependents. This benefit is offered through Aetna Company–Behavioral Health Services.

School Tax Credit

This tax credit is a cash contribution paid to a public school for support of extracurricular activities. The election amount for single or head of household taxpayer cannot exceed $200. The amount for married couples that file joint returns cannot exceed $400. You may pay through payroll deduction if you wish to participate in the Arizona Tax Credit Program.
