Music At District One

At Yuma School District One, music is an integral part of the curriculum and plays a major role in the educational program of every student. Believing that the arts enhance the learning experiences of children, District One is pleased to offer a full range of music programs for our students. All students in kindergarten through sixth grade receive general music class, and we offer music as an elective in our middle schools.Orchestra classes begin in the fourth grade and band classes begin in the fifth grade. Select school sites offer special music programs including choir, recorder, piano lab, guitar, Suzuki violin, Orff Ensemble, and musical theater.

Our music curriculum aligns to Arizona State Standards and utilizes a diverse repertoire including folk, popular, ethnic, and electronic music forms from various cultures and historical period.
